A VIDEO MONOGRAPH

There used to be these things called monographs. An academician or a philosopher or an engineer would come up with a thought that he or she felt might benefit a peer group to have recorded and would publish it as a one-sheet (often longer than one sheet), not a trade paperback or a text book, just short essay or exploration of a topic.

Here, internationally acclaimed comedian, humorist and story-teller Dylan Brody performs the video version of a monograph disguised as an online workshop session, but he does it with the same funny and complex nested story-telling structure that makes his live, on stage performances a delight to watch. Filled with personal anecdotes and unexpected punchlines, this look at the history and nature of the joke as a literary form presents ideas about comedy as an art form and about art itself in a wholly engaging hour of insight and wit.
